procedureall-on-4

All-on-4® dental implants is a cost-efficient procedure for a fixed set of teeth immediately after surgery. It is an innovative option of dental implants for

Teeth-in-A-Day. As we age, gradual wear and tear can take a toll on our teeth and many people will turn to dental implant procedure options to fill in any

gaps in their smile. While many of these procedures have various benefits, most are only temporary solutions. When a large number of your teeth are in bad condition and have to be removed, the function and appearance of your original teeth are commonly restored through artificial means. To spare your mouth a long recovery and considerably saving in all-on-4® cost, look into the All-on-4® dental implant procedure with St. Luke’s OMS.

Is All-on-4® cost efficient?

All-on-4® dental implants are a new take on oral health and eliminate the need for removable dentures. The All-on-4® dental implant procedure is a cost-efficient, graft- less solution that provides patients with a fixed full-arch bridge (prosthesis). To achieve this, two straight anterior dental implants and two dental implants tilted up to 45º in the posterior of the mouth are drilled directly into the jaw. By tilting the posterior implants into healthy bone, the painful process and the cost of bone grafting is avoided. For patients that meet the criteria for candidacy, All-on-4® dental implants are fully functional immediately after surgery – with some occasional soreness. You’ll notice the difference immediately!

Who is a candidate for all on 4® dental implants?

Patients who undergo All-on-4® dental implant procedures often suffer from failing teeth, failure bridge work and gum infections. As you lose teeth, the supportive structure of your jaw begins to loosen and extend outward. This dramatic transformation is avoided when patients opt to use the All-on-4® implant procedure. A thorough evaluation is necessary to finalize a dental treatment method and establish a recovery plan before surgery begins. To see if you qualify, schedule an appointment with our oral surgery clinic and learn more about your options.

Is All-on-4® procedure safe?

In order to receive dental implants, you’ll need an evaluation by a dental professional to make sure oral and general health permits dental implants procedures. It’s also important to note that All-on-4® dental implants require a minor surgical procedure to correctly install. As with any surgery, associated general risks include infection, possible damage to nerve tissue, and excessive bleeding during or after the surgery is possible. While these potential risks have the same level of possibility for all dental work, it is best to consult with one of our All-on-4® doctor near you to find out if dental implants are the best choice for you.

How is the All-on-4® recovery?

The extraction of failing teeth is necessary when considering all-on-4® dental implants for teeth-in-a day. Some of these teeth may grow sideways, partially emerge from the gum, and even remain trapped beneath the gum and bone. Teeth can take many positions in the bone as they attempt to find a pathway that will allow them to successfully erupt.

Here is a guideline and instructions for you to follow to aid in your All-on-4® healing and recovery:

  1. Rest at home for the first 72 hours following surgery
  2. If you had general anesthesia or I.V. sedation, you may experience light-headedness, dizziness, and sleepiness following dental implant surgery.
  3. Refrain from pulling on your lips to inspect the surgical area. This action could tear your sutures or sometimes delay healing.
  4. Take your prescribed medications as directed by our All-on-4® doctors.

Significant swelling may occur after multiple dental implants surgery. After the procedure, apply an ice pack on both sides of your face at 15-minute intervals for the remainder of the day. Moist heat such as a warm, wet wash cloth, may aid in reducing swelling after the first 48 hours.

Swelling usually reaches its maximum within the first 72 hours after-surgery and then slowly decreases.

During the 45 minutes after your recovery or until you stop bleeding, you may have a gauze packs placed over the areas of dental implants surgery. You may be advised by your All-on-4 doctor to gently bite down on the gauze to keep them in place. Then after the first hour, you may be asked to remove the gauze, unless it still bleeding, in which case your doctor may replace them with new gauze. After that, you may be asked to change the gauze every 30 minutes or so.

What’s like days after having All-on-4® procedure?

Few days following All-on-4® procedure, the main activities should be resting on a couch or bed. Things you shouldn’t be doing include bending over, lifting heavy objects, or any strenuous activities as it could lead to more bleeding and swelling. Also, when transitioning from a lying down position to standing, it’s best to do so slowly. Otherwise, you could get lightheaded. If you normally exercise, you’ll need to avoid it for about 3-4 days after surgery.

What are the All-on-4® teeth-in-a-day types?

Types of fixed teeth-in-a-day bridge: There are two main types of dental implant fixed bridge prosthesis for the full mouth.

One type is acrylic teeth prosthesis over a titanium. The titanium bar may be hidden under the acrylic. The second type is teeth-in-a-day made out of zirconia over a pink zirconia base.
